Second Half Surge Falls Short as Knights Top Centurions 83-54

TORRINGTON, Wyo. — The Yellowstone Christian College Centurions mounted a third quarter comeback, cutting the deficit to single digits, but the North Platte Community College Lady Knights pulled away for a 83-54 victory on Saturday afternoon.

The Lady Knights caught fire from behind the arc in the first half, connecting on 33% (7 of 21) of their attempts, winning the three point battle 21-9. That 11-point advantage was enough to push North Platte to an 11-point lead at halftime.

The Centurions came out of the gates firing in the third quarter, cutting the lead to single digits. However, North Platte weathered the storm and steadily built their lead in the second half, pushing it out to as much as 29 in the fourth quarter. The Lady Knights also held the Centurions to just 26% (18 of 69) shooting from the field and 22% (5 of 23) from three-point land for the game.

The Centurions were led on the offensive end by Leonardine John, who dropped 12 points to go along with 4 rebounds. Tayler Calf Boss Ribs scored 10 points and dished out a game-high four assists. Zhane Akeya also chipped in with 10 points of her own.

Mickenzie Brennan paced the North Platte offensive attack with 24 points. Thomesha Wilson added a double-double with 21 points and 12 boards.

The Centurions will have a day off on Sunday before hitting the road again on Monday morning to take on the University of Mary on Monday and Dickinson State on Tuesday. For more information about the season and for full game recaps, visit
