Trappers Top Centurions 62-41, Complete Season Sweep

By Scott Lemon, Yellowstone Christian College SID

BILLINGS, Mont. — The Northwest College Trappers topped the Yellowstone Christian College Centurions for the third time in three games, completing the season sweep, with a 62-41 final score on Wednesday night.

The Trappers have been a thorn in the side of the Centurions this season, as the two teams have squared off three times in the past month, with Northwest claiming a victory each time. However, the Centurions wouldn't go down without a fight.

The Centurions kept the game close throughout much of the first half, never allowing the Trappers to get completely out of reach. However, the depth of Northwest’s bench showed itself to be the key to pulling away in the second half, as the Trapper’s bench outscored YCC’s bench 32-8.

Leonardine John paced the Centurion offense with 16 points. Paige Gregory also reach double-digits with ten points of her own. Tiani Alvarez dished out a game-high three assists.

Freshman Kira Marlow shot a remarkable 89% (8 for 9) from inside the three-point line en route to a game-high 19 points. Reserve Domenica Gomes led the bench barrage with 14 points of her own.

The Centurions wrap up the fall semester on the road on Thursday night, paying a visit to Dawson Community College in Glendive, Mont. The Buccaneers beat the Centurions 80-69 in their first meeting in November, a game played in Billings. For more information about the season and for full game recaps, visit
