Calf Boss Ribs' 24-Point Night Not Enough in 79-60 Loss to Bucs

By Scott Lemon, Yellowstone Christian College SID

GLENDIVE, Mont. — Tayler Calf Boss Ribs scored a career-high 24 points and pulled down nine rebounds, but it wasn't enough as the Dawson Community College Buccaneers defeated the Yellowstone Christian College Centurions 79-60 on Thursday night.

The Bucs poured in 46 points in the first half and never looked back. Reserve Rachael Ault led the 20-minute barrage, scoring 17 of her game-high 23 points in the first two frames.

Outside of the first quarter where the Bucs outscored the Centurions 32-19, both teams were very even the rest of the night. The Centurions were actually statistically better than Dawson in every category that is based on percentage. YCC shot better from the field (41% to 32%), from behind the arc (36% to 35%), and from the free throw line (52% to 50%).

However, Dawson held a massive difference in rebounding, pulling down 67 total rebounds compared to just 41 for the Centurions. This resulted in Dawson being able to attempt 95 shots from the field.

Deandra Cunningham joined Calf Boss Ribs in double-digits with 10 points off the bench for YCC. Tiani Alvarez dished out five assists.

Joining Ault in double-figures for Dawson was Alexis Clingingsmith with 11 and Brooke Jones and Janae Strode with 10 points each.

This was the final game for the Centurions before Christmas break, with their next game coming on the road against Fort Berthold College on Jan. 14. For more information about the season and for full game recaps, visit
