By Scott Lemon, Yellowstone Christian SID

BILLINGS, Mont. — The Yellowstone Christian College Centurions saw five players score in double digits, helping them beat the Oglala Lakota College Bravehearts 111-74 on Friday night in Billings.

The Centurions came out of the gates firing on all cylinders on Friday, scoring early and often. YCC used their tremendous size differential to continually pound the ball into the paint. The tallest player on the Centurions’ roster is Osondu Kelvinson, who is listed at 6-foot-10. The tallest players for the Bravehearts are James Pine and Jeremy Blacksmith, both listed at 6-foot-4.

Yellowstone Christian exploded for 58 points in the first half, but stifling defensive pressure allowed the Centurions to hold the Bravehearts to just 30 points in the half on 9-of-24 (38%) shooting.

The Centurions ramped up their defensive pressure in the second half, stretching their lead to over 40 on several occasions in the stanza. The Centurions swiped 17 passes throughout the course of the game, with Taylan Barrett and Abraham Nyok each picking off four passes.

The Centurions were paced offensively by Stefan Tellis, who poured in a game-high 26 points, pulled down three boards, dished out two assists, and picked up two steals in a well-rounded effort. Aaron Munday-Rashid came close to recording a double-double with 16 points and eight assists. Aleksandar Brankovic also scored 16 points off the bench. Mechiah Zilkoski and Nyok put up 12 and 10 points respectively. Every active player on YCC’s roster on Friday reached the scoring column.

The Bravehearts were led offensively by Dallas Tobacco, who scored 17 of his 23 points in the second half. He was joined in double figures by James Pine with 18 and reserve Raymond Rouillard with 12. Pine also gathered a team-high seven rebounds.

The Centurions and Bravehearts will meet again on Saturday afternoon, with tip scheduled for 3 p.m. at The Shrine in Billings. For more information about the season and for full game recaps, visit
