Heavy Snow Postpones Women's Trip

By Scott Lemon, Yellowstone Christian SID

BILLINGS, Mont. — A massive, state-wide snowstorm has pummeled the state over the last 24 hours, prompting Yellowstone Christian College administration personnel and Head Coach Dominic Gaglia to postpone the Centurion women’s trip to Pablo to visit Salish Kootenai College. The teams were scheduled to play Thursday night and Friday afternoon before the postponement was officially announced Wednesday morning. Make-up dates for these games will be announced later, pending an agreement from both schools.

“This isn’t an issue of athletic performance. This is an issue of keeping our girls and coaches safe,” said YCC Executive Vice President Darwin Payton.

According to the Montana Department of Transportation, nearly two feet of snow fell in the western portion of the state on Tuesday, creating travel problems and closing mountain passes. Billings, on the other hand, only received about a half foot of fresh snow on Tuesday and early Wednesday.

The Centurions (5-12) are riding a four-game winning streak heading into their Sunday afternoon matchup at home against Nueta Hidatsa Sahnish College (N.D.). NHSC topped YCC 70-65 in overtime in their first matchup on Jan. 14 in New Town, N.D. For more information on the season and for full game recaps, visit
