Great Team Play Leads to Sixth Straight Win for YCC Women

KYLE, S.D. — The Yellowstone Christian College Centurions used 17 team assists to push them to a 78-57 victory over the Oglala Lakota College Bravehearts on Friday night in Kyle, S.D.

Zhane Akeya sparked the offense early, knocking down two straight three pointers to start the contest. The rest of the offense followed suit, quickly falling into a groove. More impressive than shooting nearly 50% for the game was the team play. Nearly every player on the Centurion roster picked up an assist, led by Tiani Alvarez with a career-best seven dimes.

Paige Gregory picked up her second career double-double, scoring 17 points and pulling down 12 rebounds. Tayler Brankovic was equally as impressive, scoring 21 points, dishing out four assists, and chalking up three steals. Deandra Cunningham picked up three blocks on the defensive end for the Centurions as well as scoring ten points of her own. Akeya rounded out the double-digit scorers with an impressive 16 points and five rebounds.

The Bravehearts were paced by Cammi Bear Killer, who scored a game-high 23 points. Kayla Bravo joined her in double-digits with ten points of her own.
