Big Second Half Lifts Dickinson State Over Centurions 84-60

By Scott Lemon, Yellowstone Christian College SID

BILLINGS, MT — The Dickinson State University Blue Hawks outscored the Yellowstone Christian College Centurions 47-28 in the second half to pull away with a 84-60 victory, handing YCC their first loss of the young season on Sunday afternoon.

After the offense exploded for 145 points on Friday night, the Centurions struggled to find their offensive rhythm against a stifling Dickinson defense. YCC only shot 47% (17 of 36) from the floor, a tough 35% (8 of 23) from three-point land, and turned the ball over 18 times.

The Centurions matched up very well with the Blue Hawks in the first half, as they found themselves down by only five at half, while holding the lead for several minutes in the first 20 minutes.

The second half was a different story. The depth of Dickinson State came out as their offense never skipped a beat. Dickinson’s bench outscored YCC’s reserves 37-12, including a game-high 17 points from junior guard Marcus White.

The Centurions offense was paced by true freshman Aleksandar Brankovic, who had 18 points. Aaron Munday-Rashid joined Brankovic in double-digits with 16 of his own. Dickinson saw a very balanced scoring attack, including four players in double-figures White was joined in double-digits by Konner Goettsche with 14, Dontae Clark with 13, and Jerry Shevlin with 12.

YCC has just under a week to prepare for its next game and their first road trip of the season, as they will face MSU-Northern and Montana Tech next weekend. For more information about the season and for full game recaps, visit
