Centurions Hold Off Relentless Trappers 82-79

By Scott Lemon, Yellowstone Christian College SID

POWELL, WY — The Northwest College Trappers cut the lead to two with three seconds remaining in regulation, but the Yellowstone Christian College Centurions were able to hold off a pesky Trapper squad, picking up a 82-79 victory on Tuesday night in Powell, Wyo.

The Centurions, who led by as much as 19 in the game, saw their lead disappear slowly in the second half. The Trappers kept chipping away, cutting the lead to just two with 3.0 seconds remaining. However, sophomore guard Stefan Tellis hit a clutch free throw to make a game-changing shot more difficult. Redshirt-sophomore Thomas Rowland intercepted a full-court heave and clutched the ball to his chest through the final buzzer to save the game for YCC.

Aaron Munday-Rashid paced the offense with 22 points. Tellis joined him double-figures with 18 of his own to go along with four assists. YCC shot an even 50% from the floor for the game.

The Centurions head to Lewiston, Idaho on Friday for the Clearwater River Casino & Lodge Classic hosted at Lewis-Clark State College. YCC will face Montana Tech on Friday and nationally-ranked host Lewis-Clark State on Saturday. For more information about the season and for full game recaps, visit
