Lancers Force 26 Turnovers as Eastern Dismantles Centurions 76-32

By Scott Lemon, Yellowstone Christian College SID

TORRINGTON, Wyo. — The Eastern Wyoming College Lancer defense forced 26 turnovers, lifting them to a 76-32 win over the Yellowstone Christian College Centurions on Day One of the First Bank of Wyoming Shootout, hosted by Eastern Wyoming.

The Lancers and their stifling defense made a mark from the opening tip, taking an early double-digit lead. The Centurions couldn’t find their rhythm offensively, and were held to just 24% (8 of 34) from the field on the night. Eastern took a 33-point lead into the locker room at halftime and grew their lead steadily from there.

The Centurions saw no players in double-figures, and were led on the offensive end by Zhane Akeya who had six points. Tayler Calf Boss Ribs, Paige Gregory, and Deandra Cunningham had five points each. Calf Boss Ribs tacked on a game-high six rebounds.

YCC will face North Platte Community College (Neb.) in Day Two of the Shootout on Saturday. Tipoff is scheduled for 12 noon. For more information about the season and for full game recaps, visit
