Dominic Gaglia

  Head Coach

Coach Dominic Gaglia brings a wealth of experience and record of success from the high school, college and national levels as a teacher, coach and administrator. Coach Gaglia has excelled and takes great pride in embracing the challenge of start-up and rebuilding programs and leading them to immediate success.

In his last college position at Little Big Horn College, Coach Gaglia took over a winless program in only its second year of NJCAA D-1 competition, the only Native American college in the nation at the NJCAA D-1 level. He immediatley put his stamp on the program with his relentless pursuit to build success and credibility by bringing recruits from the Bahamas, Arizona, Idaho, New Mexico, and Wyoming along with the best Montana players who were willing to meet the requirements and expectations in the classroom and on the court which satisfy NJCAA standards and the demanding competiotion in Region IX.

The result: success on the court and in the classroom. Some of his team and individual player accomplishments are as follows: all-time single season school record wins (15); three consecutive years of increased double digit wins; career record win totals; 14 players named to Region IX Academic All-region, including one player named NJCAA Academic All-American; first LBHC player selected to All-Region IX team; and 2010-11 Region IX Coach of the Year Nomination (only 3 of 19 Coaches nominated). In the process, his team was among the Region IX leaders in several team and individual statistical categories.

At the national level, Coach Gaglia served with Basketball Congress International (BCI) as Director/Head Coach of Montana BCI on a full- and part-time basis for 20 years. Named to the BCI Board of Directors in 1992, his program was the only program nationwide serving both boys and girls providing teams to each BCI age tournament. Highlights of his program include winning the 1993 & 2000 Senior Prep National Championships, coaching teams to 12 national tournament trophy finishes, placing 21 players on the prestigious BCI All-American teams, and securing college scholarships for over 400 players in 23 states.

Coach Gaglia's accomplishments at the high school level include tripling the win totals from the previous year in his first year programs at Hays/Lodge Pole High School girls (12) and boys (15), and Flaxville High School girls(15). While in his second year at Absarokee, his team won the first ever Divisional Championship and placed fourth at the state tournament.

Coach Gaglia is a graduate of Sacred Heart High School in Miles City, Mont., where he was a All-State performer in basketball and baseball. He received his Bachelor of Science in Education from Eastern Montana College (now MSU-B) and is pursuing a Master's Degree in Athletic Administration/Coaching.

Dominic resides in Billings with Jackie, his bride of 33 years. Dominic and Jackie are the proud parents of Alexandria, a Carroll College graduate, and Damian, a graduate of the University of Montana.
